The Creative Explorer? Where did this idea originate? What’s the point?
I am sure I am haven’t explained it well enough to people by now, so here is a quick rundown of this recent tangent I have followed. The Creative Explorer is a personal proclamation and in some ways a my manifesto reduced down to a few words.
Very much of who I am as an individual and as a creative professional can be attributed to where I grew up. I constantly attribute my creative process to being “outside” discovering something or exploring. This mentality has its roots deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. As a teenager, I spent a great amount of time in the woods, hiking, camping, and snowboarding.
Today that environment has made itself present in the places I run to when I need inspiration or an escape. It refreshes my thoughts and my creative approach. So as I continue to grow as a designer and creative personal, I will never cease to stop exploring. This is what these words mean. So when things like my Instagram name change to reflect this, it is simply an invitation to follow along for the ride. But whatever you get out of it, or don’t, at the end of the day this is personal to me and that’s all that matters.
